day 2 - Kallio

Today we walked in beautiful Kallio, near our place. For what we have seen so far, almost everyone here is black dressed and very much tattooed. Andrea says: "very metal oriented" and wishes to have spent his teenage here in Helsinki.  I wish I came earlier.
In these days we are enjoying a very unusual good warm weather (they told us so) and maybe for this reason every single square meter of grass in town is occupied by people mainly drinking, chatting, sometimes playing instruments and eating. Very nice also around the little lake Eläintarhanlahti Djurgårdsviekn, people sitting on the docks chilling around in a very nice atmosphere and weird light of 11pm. 

curiosity:
today was the perfect day to run into "Pizza Berlusconi", that really appeared in the Helsinki night, in the spotlight.
Here's the story of this famous finnish Pizza (get ready):

"Pizza Berlusconi is Kotipizza's name for its smoked reindeer pizza. With Pizza Berlusconi, Kotipizza won the America's Plate International pizza contest in New York in March 2008, beating the Italian-Americans, who got second place, and the Australians at third.
Kotipizza named its smoked reindeer pizza "Pizza Berlusconi" in its advertising campaign and menu in early summer 2008 after Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi. Kotipizza did this to mock Berlusconi's statements from 2005 that he had to "endure" Finnish cuisine when he joked disparagingly about Finns eating "marinated raindeer". Although marinated reindeer is a common dish in Lapland and Alaska, in Finland the meat is traditionally stewed or dried."

Oggi abbiamo fatto un giro nella bella Kallio, quartiere vicino a dove stiamo. Per quel che abbiamo visto fin ora, tutti paiono vestiti di nero e molto tatuati. Andrea dice "very metal oriented" e avrebbe voluto passare qui la sua adolescenza. Io avrei voluto venirci prima.
In questi giorni c'è un tempo meraviglioso e inusuale (così ci han detto, insieme al consiglio - quasi minaccia- di sapercelo godere a dovere) e quasi caldo (24° di massima); forse per questo motivo ogni metro quadro di erba, ogni aiuola, ogni parco è occupato da gente allegra che beve, chiacchiera, suona e mangia. Anche attorno al laghetto Eläintarhanlahti Djurgårdsviekn c'è una bellissima atmosfera con persone sedute sul molo nella luce surreale delle undici di sera.

curiosità:
in una giornata come questa, non poteva mancare la Pizza Berlusconi, che ci appare come illuminata da un faro nella notte di Helsinki.
Ecco la storia in breve, di questa pizza molto nota in Finlandia (tremate):

"HELSINKI (Finlandia) – Nel 2005, l’allora presidente del consiglio Silvio Berlusconi, durante una visita a Helsinki fece irritare i finlandesi con una battuta in cui disse che in un confronto tra il culatello di Parma e la renna affumicata, avrebbe sempre vinto il culatello.
Nel 2008, una grossa catena di franchising chiamata Kotipizza prese spunto da questa polemica e creò una nuova pizza alla renna affumicata chiamata proprio "Pizza Berlusconi". Kotipizza partecipò, sempre nel 2008, all’America’s Plate International e vinse il primo premio con la sua pizza ispirata a Berlusconi, vincendo gli italo-americani che si aggiudicarono il secondo posto e gli australiani, il terzo.
E a febbraio, sulle tv finlandesi è arrivato uno spot celebrativo della Pizza Berlusconi, girato in Italia e parlato in Italiano con i sottotitoli in Finlandese".
