here the weather is warm, 25° and we can't just believe it.
We wanted to escape the Italian summer and, while everywhere is raining, we already got 6 days of shining sun in Helsinki. And the worst part is that we can't even complain, since everyone here is so happy and grateful for this.
Especially with this weather, Helsinki seems very weird to us, not really how we expected it. Sun, sunglasses, sunscreen, sweat, sunbathing in the parks.. It's very common to see people on skateboards, longboards and rollerblades. 
- Actually we feel a little bit in California, with all these blond tattoed cool people skating around and up and down the city -.
I am sure we'll have time to change our mind anyway.

Today I saw again Hanna, my ex flatmate, after 4 years. She is from Helsinki and we shared an apartment in Turin while she was in Erasmus and I was at my first year at the University.
She studied economics and in Italy she found love, so now, after 4 years of travels up and down, she's going to move finally and definitively with him, in Piedmont, Italy.
We had a very nice and Finnish 11am-lunch and talked about all this.
We tried to figure out, why one should move away from his native place, why many people want to go away and feel the need to travel abroad, sometimes very far.
It's interesting for example to compare us, coming from Turin to Helsinki, and her, doing exactly the opposite move.
She likes Italy a lot and she speaks already good Italian; she doesn't think to come back in Helsinki. The main reason of her move is, of course, the partner, and then the good weather.

A good friend of mine, a lovely traveler from Dublin -and I'll keep on quoting him forever-, said: "... Going to new places makes me feel like I might find my home. I think the point of human life is to find home: not where you come from, but where you need to be".

Last but not least, we'd like to share here a new we found, about Helsinki and the plan to eliminate all the private cars in the next ten years.

Hei,
qui fa veramente caldo, ci sono 25° e ogni giorno stentiamo a crederci.
Volevamo fuggire l'estate italiana? Benissimo: a Torino piove e fa freschetto, ovunque diluvia e qui abbiamo avuto 6 giorni ininterrotti di bel tempo. Il peggio è che non possiamo nemmeno davvero lamentarci, dato che qui son tutti felici per questo.
Specialmente con questo tempo, Helsinki ci sembra davvero strana, non come ce la eravamo immaginata. Sole, occhiali da sole, crema solare, sudore, gente che prende il sole al parco.. Ovunque si vedono giovani sullo skateboard, longboard o sui pattini - in realtà ci sentiamo un po' in California, alle volte, attorniati da biondoni fighi tatuati che sfrecciano su e giù le salite e le discese della città -.
Sono certa che avremo tempo per ricrederci.

Oggi abbiamo incontrato Hanna, la mia ex coinquilina che non vedevo da 4 anni. Lei è di Helsinki, ma abbiamo condiviso un alloggio a Torino quando lei era una studentessa Erasmus e io al mio primo anno di Università.
Ha studiato Economia e in Italia ha trovato l'amore. Così ora, dopo 4 anni di viaggi avanti e indietro, ha deciso di trasferirsi stabilmente da lui, in Piemonte.
Mentre gustavamo un bel pranzo finlandese delle 11 del mattino, abbiamo parlato di tutto questo. Abbiamo cercato di capire, perché uno dovrebber desiderare di allontanarsi dal suo paese natio, cosa spinge la gente a viaggiare e perché molti vogliono andarsene all'estero, spesso anche molto lontano.
Interessante per esempio pensare che noi da Torino ci siamo diretti ad Helsinki e lei sta facendo lo spostamento esattamente opposto.
A lei piace molto l'Italia e parla anche già molto bene; non pensa di tornare a Helsinki; la ragione principale del suo spostamento è, naturalmente, il partner, ma anche il clima e il sole dell'Italia fanno la loro parte sull'ago della bilancia.

Un mio caro amico, un caro viaggiatore di Dublino che mai smetterò di citare, un giorno mi disse ".. Andare in posti nuovi mi fa pensare che potrei trovare la mia casa. Penso che il punto dell'umanità sia trovare la propria casa. Non da dove veniamo, ma dove abbiamo bisogno di essere".

In ultimo, ma non per importanza, vorremmo condividere una notizia che ci è capitata sott'occhio, riguardo un piano della città di Helsinki di eliminare entro i prossimi 10 anni tutte le macchine private.
